RE: Church Service Through Conference Calling

Dear Church family & Friends,

I bring you greetings of Hope and Peace in the name of Christ our Redeemer!

I trust that you and your family are well. Please continue to stay safe and follow the orders of the government and Public Health and Safety to help flatten the curve.

We are now heading into the third week of churches being closed due to Covid-19 pandemic. The closure of church doors will continue until April 30th. Because of this we are unable to hold our regular worship, church gatherings, and, meetings. I said before that our way of doing things in church will have to change including regular Sunday Worship while we are faced with the pandemic.  I am aware that some of you have access to computer or are able to avail the worship services provided online by some churches. And I encourage you to continue doing so to nurture your spirit. But we have More church members who are not connected on Facebook or has no computer (or if they do are unsure how to use it). However, they have telephones that they use to connect with family and friends. I gathered this information through my weekly telephone visit with our church family and friends. Thanks be to God for the available technology through Teleconference Call provided by the United Church of Canada.  Last Friday, March 27th, we were able to gather for a devotional time with 46 participants, and, were able to conduct a brief meeting of the Official Board via telephone. It was our first trial and we hope to improve on it.

Today, I am happy to tell you that we can gather again for worship, and, this time, we will hold it every Sunday starting April 5th until April 26th through Telephone conference call.  The time of worship is at 2:00 pm.  The toll free telephone number and Participant Pin Code will be the same every Sunday.  It won’t be communicated to you every week, so I ask you to write down the information and keep it in a safe place where you can access it every Sunday.

Here is the information and guidelines for telephone conference call:

  • Dial Toll Free Number: 1-888-224-1908

When prompted, enter your Participant PIN Code: 38086003

  • Turn OFF your Television or Radio to avoid background noise.
  • Turn On your speaker phone so others in your family may join in worship.
  • Observe silence when recorded music is on during worship.
  • Please remain silent while worship is running. You will only be asked to speak (one at a time) during “Sharing Joys and Blessings & Church Concerns”
  • If you wish to speak to anyone in your household during worship, please mute your phone to avoid distraction, and, when finished unmute to join again in worship.
  • The worship will run for about 30 -40 minutes, please charge up your phone fully so you won’t experience any interruptions.

Again, this is a different way of worshipping. As your clergy, I am trying my best to make it possible for us to be a church in the midst of Covid- 19 pandemic.  I hope you will take advantage of this privilege to connect together as a church. I look forward to worshipping with you starting this Sunday at 2:00 pm. Please pass this information to everyone in the church family and friends and invite your neighbours if they wish to join. Please don’t forget to tell them the toll free number and Participant Pin Code.

I will continue to do pastoral care visit with you through phone call.  Please stay safe and well. Let us pray for one another and pray for the healing of the world.  Let me leave this passage from Isaiah 41: 9-10. May you be encouraged in knowing that God never leaves us nor forsake us.

“You are my servant; I have chosen you and have not rejected you;

So do not fear, for I am with you. I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

In Christ’s service,

Rev. Nancy
